Privacy Policy
Effective October 21, 2026
Capture is a personal accountability app. It helps you notice the commitments you make, place them on your calendar, and keep or clean them up. This policy explains what Capture accesses, why, and how it's protected.
What Capture accesses, and why
- Google Calendar. To show your schedule, find open times, and create, update, or remove events you ask Capture to manage.
- Gmail. To read messages you send and receive so Capture can find commitments you made and requests made of you, and to understand the people and matters in your life. When you use Capture in Gmail, it reads the thread you have open and can create a reply draft only when you ask.
- Contacts (on your iPhone, with your permission). To recognize names and let you call or message people.
- Microphone and audio (only when you start it). To transcribe what you say to Capture, and conversations or meetings you choose to capture. Transcription happens first on your device. For accuracy, a temporary audio recording may be sent to our speech provider and is deleted right after.
- Messages on your Mac (only if you turn it on and grant access). To find commitments and requests in your text conversations. Capture only reads; it never sends or changes messages.
How your information is used
Only to provide Capture's features to you. Capture keeps short quotes and the commitments it finds, not full emails, messages, or transcripts. Audio is never stored.
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.
Service providers
Capture uses a small number of providers to run: Anthropic (AI understanding of text), ElevenLabs (voice and transcription), Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), and Apple (notifications). They process data only to provide their service to Capture and under their own security and privacy commitments.
Google user data
Capture's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is used only to provide the features described above, is not transferred to others except as needed to provide those features or comply with law, is not used for advertising, and is not read by people unless you ask us to for support, it's needed for security, or the law requires it.
Security
Connections are encrypted. Google sign-in tokens are encrypted at rest. Access to your data requires your device's private key, and you can disconnect any device or Google account at any time.
Your choices
You can disconnect Google accounts, turn off email reading, text reading, or listening, and ask Capture to forget any person or matter, all from within the app. You can also revoke Capture's access at myaccount.google.com/permissions. To delete all of your data, contact us and we'll remove it within 30 days.
Children
Capture is not intended for anyone under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app when the change is significant.
